Tom Tierney had a very dominant regular season, going 4-0 with a 1.44 ERA. Even Nick Bove pitched well, going 2-4 with a 13.45 ERA. Bove's Athletic's also played very good defense, as Marc Case picked up the 2008 Gold Glove award for his outstanding play in the field. The Bad: The Athletics had some problems scoring runs, as they finished 7th in the league in run scored. Getting a big time bat in the lineup is almost a necessity if he wants to win in 2009. '08 Outlook: The Athletics surprised a lot of people last season by finishing strong and grabbing the #3 seed in the playoffs. His resigning of Tom Tierney bolstered his rotation, and gives the Athletics a serious chance at winning the title in 2009. The A's arguably have one of the top 3 or 4 rotations in the league. The only thing the A's really needed to find in the off season was some more hitting, and they apparently filled that gap. The signing of Dan Clark should help their lineup and push more runs across the board.
