Athletics Fun Facts: The Athletics were the first ballclub to be no hit, which was done by Tadd O'Neil on June 30th. The A's also had a series of weird streaks. They started out losing their first three, then won three in a row, then lost three in a row, then would go on to win three in a row to close out the regular season.

Athletics Wiffleball: Team News:    Marc Case signed a one year deal with the Athletic's Wiffleball Club. Marc was on the Cardinals roster in 2007, but did not play because of contract problems.

Scouting Report
The Good:

One of the bright spots for the Athletics in 2008 was their pitching. Tom Tierney had a very dominant regular season, going 4-0 with a 1.44 ERA. Even Nick Bove pitched well, going 2-4 with a 13.45 ERA. Bove's Athletic's also played very good defense, as Marc Case picked up the 2008 Gold Glove award for his outstanding play in the field.

The Bad:

The Athletics had some problems scoring runs, as they finished 7th in the league in run scored. Getting a big time bat in the lineup is almost a necessity if he wants to win in 2009.

'08 Outlook:

The Athletics surprised a lot of people last season by finishing strong and grabbing the #3 seed in the playoffs. His resigning of Tom Tierney bolstered his rotation, and gives the Athletics a serious chance at winning the title in 2009. The A's arguably have one of the top 3 or 4 rotations in the league. The only thing the A's really needed to find in the off season was some more hitting, and they apparently filled that gap. The signing of Dan Clark should help their lineup and push more runs across the board.

The golden touch

In his rookie year, Marc Case certainly made a name for himself on the field. His remarkable catches earned him the 2008 Gold Glove award.
