Game Recap It was a matchup of southpaws, as Kyle LeClair and Eric Verhayden both pitched great games. Kyle led off the game for the Cyclones by hitting a leadoff HR to give them a very quick 1-0 lead. That one run would be critical though, as everyone found it difficult to score runs after that. Eric settled down though as he got through the first inning only allowing that one run. Eric also pitched a scoreless second inning after some big strikeouts. Zimbabwe got on the board in the second inning after scoring two runs off some bad defense. The Cyclones answered right back, putting a big three spot on the board the following half inning. Walking in several runs really hurt Eric, as he watched his lead slip away.
Zimbabwe responded though the following inning, scoring two more runs. Kyle showed some control problems as he loaded the bases up via walks. Two runs was all they could score though, as the game was 4-4. After Eric and Kyle both pitched a scoreless 5th inning, it was on to the 6th.
Kyle LeClair shut down Zimbabwe in the 6th to give his Cyclones a winning chance. Verhayden walked the first batter then gave up a single to Curt LeClair. With runners on first and second, and no one out, Chris Suriano lined a single up the middle. Kyle rounded third and jogged home thinking he had the game one. Little did he know that Andy Fassett fired a bullet from LF and just hit his foot right as Kyle touched home plate. Andy saved the game winning run, for the moment. Some heads up base running by Curt LeClair as he rounded third after Kyle was tagged out. Sutter could not get the ball in time to tag out Curt, and the Cyclones finally won.
