Game Recap - In what has become the greatest rivalry in the HFWB, just got better. It was a classic pitchers duel until the very end. The Cyclones scored first in the top of the first to grab a 1-0 lead. Barracuda pitcher Nick Giordano was in the zone though, as he cruised through the next two innings without allowing a run.
The Barracudas got on the board in the bottom of the third when two runs scored on some bad fielding, giving Giordano some run support. Cyclone pitcher Kyle LeClair was very sharp though, as he was able to escape the inning allowing only two runs. We now go to the top of the 5th. The Barracudas have a 4-2 lead with two outs. Chris LeClair then doubled off the RF wall to move into scoring position. The next batter, Chris Suriano, crushed a fastball over the LF wall to tie the game at 4. Nick was able to get out of the inning without further trouble. In the top of the 6th Nick also escaped trouble by not allowing a run. It was now all on Kyle to get the game into extra innings.
George worked a lead off walk to start the bottom of the 6th inning. Tim Goyette then struck out to make it one out. James Strang then stepped and flew out to LF. With two outs Chris Hess stepped up to the plate, and worked the count full. On the payoff pitch Hess crushed a deep shot to CF. Chris Suriano and Curt LeClair both collided on the pursuing ball, allowing George to round third base. The throw to home plate was way too high, giving the Barracudas a 5-4 win. Hess hits the walkoff single to win it. What a great game.
